Hiking & World Heritage Trails
The hiking trails on both sides of the Wachau Danube Valley are linked to form a network known as the “World Heritage Trail“.
The UNESCO World Heritage Trail is right on the hotel’s doorstep and leads you through picturesque wine-growing villages, pretty Renaissance towns, hollow tree-covered paths and sunny wine estates, always with a view of the Danube valley.
The Trail is accessible to all fitness levels and family members with return journeys to the hotel possible using Wachau public transport; either by bus, ship or train. This particular trail was shortlisted as one of the “best trails of Austria”. In addition, there are numerous other circular hikes, such as the Spitzer Wine Trail, which starts directly at our house and leads through the most famous wine terraces of the Wachau (a loop takes just 1.5 hours).
Biking Tours and E-bikes
Relaxing bike tours are exactly the right way to get away from everyday life during your Wachau holiday.
Sporty mountain bikers will find challenging routes around the surrounding mountains or on the Jauerling, the highest elevation along the entire Danube. Bicycles (incl. e-bikes) can be hired at the Spitzer railway station, as well as exciting Segway sightseeing tours. E-bikes are also available to rent from the hotel (subject to availability).
The Danube cycle path has long been a favourite among tourists, especially with its numerous refreshment stops. Even during a short stay in the Wachau a small cycle tour should not be missed. A great option is to combine biking with a boat or ferry trip to get a rest whilst enjoying the spectacular views.

Water Sport Activities
As the most important transport route for trade, the Danube contributed greatly to the development of the region. Today, it is an essential part of the quality of life that the Wachau offers to locals and tourists alike.
In the summer months, the desire to enjoy life is particularly evident here. On its banks you can meet cyclists, walkers, pick-nickers and sun lovers. Sandy beaches in the Wachau, which nobody would expect here, give you an impression of the Mediterranean.
Water enthusiasts swim in designated areas and amateur captains anchor their motor boats, while sportsmen with canoes and SUP seek challenges in the current.
